Everyday “Spine-Wrecker” Activities and How to Avoid Them
You are likely doing things each and everyday that cause spine and nerve stresses. Over time, these stresses can result in painful conditions. Here are a few common “spine-wreckers” and how to avoid them.
1.) Carrying a heavy purse, tote or backpack. The Fix: Lighten the load. Remove unnecessary objects and alternate shoulders when carrying a purse or backpack.
2.) Sitting on a thick wallet. The Fix: Take the wallet out of your pocket before sitting. Thin out your wallet and get a thin one to hold just the essentials.
3.) Slouching when you sit at the computer or on the couch. The Fix: Place a lumbar/low back support, small cushion or rolled up towel behind your lumbar/ lower back curve. Put your shoulders back and lift your head up.
These simple “fixes” can help you avoid painful spine, nerve and muscle problems.
